Happy Birthday, Molly! Enjoy your breakfast “cake”– it is totally an apple cheesecake– not a yogurt base with apple sauce and Cheerio sprinkles. =) Lots of love and a joyous day!
Today’s the first full day I’m at home, just Molly and me. I’ve been looking forward to this day for, literally, years. It’s going to be a comfy-clothes and take-it-easy day. Just a chance for us to settle into a new routine. Just relaxing and eating Cheerios. And having naps. Very, very important, those naps.
Today’s officially Week 16. According to the charts, that makes itty bitty the size of an avocado. And appropriately enough, today is National Guacamole Day! Heather’s getting over the school plague a cold. It’s been a week of chicken soup and hot lemonades… but no Buckley’s or Tylenol. Boo! No doctor’s appointments until the 23rd. […]
She’s roaring her way into the second trimester. The fertility specialist cleared her for mild to more-than-mild exercise, so today was our first day back at dance. Tuesday hip-hop! Heather modified the steps to suit her own comfort level, but it wasn’t a very bouncy routine so she kept up pretty well. And since this […]
Since the news of Joan Rivers’ passing today– and in fact since her hospitalization last week– I’ve seen a heck of a lot of vitriol and hatred directed towards her– nearly all of it directed at her as a person. Someone will say something horrible, and follow it with “if she wasn’t nice to other […]
It’s the official start of the second trimester! 14 weeks. According to the last ultrasound, Tuesday is the “official” week rollover. Just in time for late summer, itty bitty’s the size of a peach. Heather’s morning/evening/afternoon/whenever sickness is starting to subside. If you squint really really hard, you can almost see she’s starting to begin […]
Today was the NT/Abnormality scan, or as it’s known in these parts “yet another ultrasound”. Not that the outcome is bad, it’s just the procedure. Early morning, full bladder, blood stabbing afterwards. Yay? But on the hand– YAY! A nice healthy fetus with a heartbeat of 159. Totally normal, as per the sonographer* . Everything […]
At week 10, Heather’s doing fine. She’s a bit on the tired side; we haven’t been to dance in a couple weeks, but she’s been keeping up with walking, yoga, some light cardio. Her appetite is all over the place. It’s like each day (or hour) is a shuffle of the deck– crave this, averse […]
Before I dive into all the posts I have planned, here’s a treat for you all: That’s the baby’s heartbeat, as picked up by the a home Doppler. It’s a Sonoline B 3mhz, or as I like to call it, HOLY CRAP I OWN A TRICORDER!. The heartbeat is 172 bpm, which is normal for […]
Hi friends and family. Many of you may have noticed, Heather Houghton and I been unable to attend many family or social events over the past year or so. As some of you know (and if you don’t, you do now), we’ve been struggling with infertility. Our lives have been planned out 28 days at […]
