Sometimes email is a wonderful thing. I got one today with the subject “Recipe to Riches”. It was from a the Field Director from the show, and it wasn’t a “thanks but no thanks” email from last year. Instead it was a request for a phone call to further discuss the application.
We had a brief but nice chat. He enjoyed the video, asked a bit about the origins of the recipe, and confirmed that I could make it Saturday. I’m booked for an audition time, and there will be a more exact schedule forthcoming. Very exciting.
Now that I know I haven’t been pre-eliminated, I’ve got the paper work to fill out.
Heather found and printed off the Applicant Release form. It’s the same one you click Yes to agree to, but you need to bring a hard copy to the audition. It’s fairly boilerplate stuff– submitting the recipe is equal to public disclosure. You’ll be filmed and sign over rights to your images on the footage. If you win, you agree to do be available to do some spokespersoning stuff for a couple years. You agree not to go work for PC’s competitors. There’s also a mention of a NDA about the inner workings of the Open Call and the show itself, so if (when?) I win, we’ll see how much I’m allowed to blog about it.
The Release is printed and signed. I’m also required to bring hard copies of the recipe. That’s a project for tomorrow, because the recipe is going to be part of a whole information package I’ve got planned.
