Now that I have your attention: CHOCOLATE CAKE!
Hahaha– seriously, though. I’ll get to the point of the post. Which is…… CHOCOLATE CAKE!
I made two more cakes, on top of the cake in the fridge and the cake in the freezer. One of the cakes got a bit crisp, which leaves me two cakes-worth of cake to pick from.
Why so many cakes for just 3 slices? For insurance, of course. Although this recipe is destined to become a product mass produced in an industrial kitchen– I don’t have one of those. I have a finicky oven, variable humidity, and a playful puppy that likes to get in between “perfectly done” and “burnt on top”. I learned my lesson last year with the chilli. I kinda ruined one batch, and was up until way too late making another batch. (And up again way to early to finish it). Not this year. I’ve got backups and backups to those backups. Layers upon layers.
I made one round earlier in the week, and one round today. Which works out well anyways. As good as this cake is fresh, it’s twice as good once its cooled. And one of the pitch-points of the cake is that it can be deep frozen and thawed without any loss of flavor or texture. So I don’t mind having extra cake. You know who else doesn’t mind me having extra cake? Everyone at the dance studio… all my product testers and leftover taker-carers-of. =)
Now that the cakes are done, I just have one last stage of the audition to prepare for: the presentation. That’s tomorrow’s task. Because remember, I’m not only presenting a plated and garnished dessert– but an entire product pitch.
I have a power point in the works (minus the power, of course). I have facts, and a bibliography.
And yes, as promised, I have props. More on all that tomorrow.
