Hi friends and family. Many of you may have noticed, Heather Houghton and I been unable to attend many family or social events over the past year or so. As some of you know (and if you don’t, you do now), we’ve been struggling with infertility. Our lives have been planned out 28 days at a time in an even mix of early-morning doctor appointments and what seemed like a never-ending parade of disappointing news. It’s been a long and tough journey, but as of this week, a victory well earned.
We are please to finally announce some good news which, if you haven’t guessed by this paragraph– we will be having a baby!
Now, we both know a lot of people who are also struggling with infertility– and we both know the pain of yet another Facebook announcement. Plus there are surely some of you who have no particular interest in our breeding habits =) So, in consideration, our baby-related updates will be posted only to our blog, here at http://sevenseventeen.ca
Most of the blog will be public, but some will be friend-and-family only. So please, sign up for an account for all the exclusives. There’s an RSS feed (http://sevenseventeen.ca/feed/) you can subscribe to to read the updates at your leisure. Comments are always open (though if you make a comment and it doesn’t show up right away, sorry about that, I’m still fine-tuning the spam settings).
The brief-and-short of our current standings: As of this posting, Heather is 10 weeks along. The baby’s the size of a prune. We’ve seen the ultrasound twice. We have more appointments with the fertility specialist; after the 24 week mark, and on her ok, we’ll be passed off to a regular OB. At that point, we officially join up with what a “normal” pregnancy would be. We don’t know the gender yet, but will find out. Once we know, we’ll tell anyone who asks.
So thanks for stopping by, and to get you all started, here’s the first official baby photo =) (8weeks4days)
